Winner of the 2014 Nathan Cohen Award for Excellence in Theatre Criticism (Long Category)
“A big, bold, bright idea.”
“With a puppet quite literally in his hands, no strings attached, Kudelka has moved beyond the boundaries of traditional dance performance, eschewing the kinetic to focus more on the art form’s more subtle, expressive side as well as its capacity for creating an empathetic relationship with its audience.”

Malcolm: Up Close
Created by Nell Coleman, Malcolm debuted alongside world-renowned counter tenor Daniel Taylor and former Co-Artistic Director Bill Coleman in Beautiful Movie; a work created for him by James Kudelka. At ease in both the contemporary and ballet idiom, Malcolm was also featured in See #8, as part of Citadel + Compagnie’s ALLONEWORD program.
