Citadel Online is a 10-week online performing arts series that looks back at some of the wonderful works that have taken place at The Citadel over the years, highlighting both previously presented Bright Nights artists and Citadel + Compagnie repertoire.
Every Tuesday at 2PM between April 28 and June 30, a new work will be released and remain available for viewing for the duration of one week.
This series has been developed as a response to our current state of isolation due to the global pandemic, and the footage shared is archival. Nothing can replace the power of live performance. It is its ‘liveness’ that defines it. Live performance is what we do, how we engage and how we communicate. It allows for a visceral experience; a human experience; it allows for empathy.
But in this time of social distancing, when theatres are dark, we are all apart and we are turning to our screens for connection, we hope that this series may serve as a reminder of the grace, beauty and humanity that dance can uniquely offer.

Citadel Online Donation Campaign
We have been truly humbled by the support of our patrons since the onset of the pandemic, as many have generously donated the value of their cancelled tickets towards Citadel + Compagnie.
Artists are accustomed to working in precarity however the current situation has left even the most established artists uncertain as to what the future holds.
In the weeks to come, as you enjoy the work of the exceptional artists shared here, please consider making a donation to our Citadel Online Fundraising Campaign. The cost of a ticket at The Citadel is $20, and even this small amount could make a difference in the day to day lives of the artists you admire.
75% of funds raised will go directly to the artists presented, with the remaining 25% going towards Citadel + Compagnie so that we may continue to work to provide essential creation and presentation opportunities within the Toronto dance community.
For Citadel + Compagnie works, funds will be dispersed among the entire creative team, including performers and designers.
We understand that at this time every dollar counts. If you are able to help and would prefer your full donation amount go directly to any of the artists shared here, please contact Kaitlin at email@example.com to make arrangements.

What is Citadel Online?
Citadel Online is a 10-week online performing arts series that looks back at some of the wonderful works that have taken place at The Citadel over the of years.
New performances will be shared every Tuesday at 2PM and will be available for one week after the event goes live.
Because every day is a matinee!
As we collectively learn what it is to experience Zoom fatigue, we have decided to release performances at 2PM as a way to encourage viewers to take a break in their day and enjoy the beauty of dance.
But don’t worry, performances remain available for an entire week. Watch when the timing’s right, or return for multiple viewings.
