ELVIS & THE MAN IN BLACK
ELVIS & THE MAN IN BLACK
Choreography by Laurence Lemieux & James Kudelka
May 2-5 & 9-12, 2018 at 8pm
Presented by C+C through Bright Nights
The Man In Black is a celebration of American working-class grit and the man whose voice embodied it so movingly. Only such a master of his craft as James Kudelka could draw from the vernacular of American country-western dance styles to create a work so inventive, so alert to the music and their lyrics, and so deeply moving.
Looking For Elvis explores the life of a young Elvis through interviews and songs. Looking For Elvis presents a picture of a man who was overtaken by his fame. Laurence Lemieux’s Looking For Elvis pulls from interviews, songs and dance to explore the dual public/private life of a young Elvis Presley.
“Sophisticated and highly self-aware.” – Fjord Review
“Kudelka’s work is a masterpiece.” – The Globe and Mail
