ABOUT THE SHOW
Trilogy of BEing is a series of solos charting the extraordinary career of KasheDance’s Artistic Director Kevin A. Ormsby. Distinctly different, each explore themes of blackness, survival, love under duress, and the environment. The work is bi-national (Canada / United States) and features a diversity of performance styles from modern jazz dance, performance art and contemporary dance steeped in the tradition of butoh.

Artistic Director of KasheDance, Kevin has performed in Canada, USA and the Caribbean featured in works by Marie Josee Chartier, Allison Cummings, Patrick Parson, Ronald Taylor, Ron K. Brown, Menaka Thakur, Mark Morris, Bill T. Jones, Garth Fagan, Lemi Ponifasio, Gerry Trentham, Liz Lerman and Christopher Walker.
Read more +A passionate advocate of dance education, writing and outreach, he has presented papers at many Arts Conferences on his work in community engaged Arts practices, creation and teaching methodologies centered on understanding space in training, creation, research, and presentation. He has been a Guest Artist at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts – University of the West Indies (Mona), University of Wisconsin – Madison and Northwestern University. The OAC Chalmers Fellowship Recipient and a KM Hunter Dance Award Nominee (2016) and he was the recipient of the Canada Council for the Arts’ Victor Martyn Lynch – Staunton Award (2014) and an inaugural TAC Cultural Leaders Fellow (2015). He is a nominee of the 2021 Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prize.
