“THERE ARE NO SMALL ACTS OF PHILANTHROPY SO LONG AS YOU ARE DOING
SOMETHING THAT MATTERS TO YOU, AND WORKING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE”
–Stephen Delaney, Chair of Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie, on receiving the Arnold Edinborough Award from
Business for the Arts for championing a better society through arts engagement, philanthropy and volunteerism.
–Tina, student at the Citadel youth dance program
“YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE”
After receiving a generous gift from the Delaney Family Foundation in 2012, the Citadel’s studio-theatre was named
in honour of Mimi Herrndorf, a mother who instilled in her children the importance of giving generously to the arts.
-See Mimi Herrndorf.
In keeping with the spirit of this initiative, we will be naming our downstairs studio after another remarkable mother,
Jean Soper, who instilled in her children the importance of caring for the welfare of others by volunteering.
-See Jean Soper.
By naming our studios after Mimi and Jean, we are honouring mothers everywhere. Mothers who
balance strength and resilience with generosity and service, demonstrating the power of making a
difference in people’s lives.
We would like to offer you an opportunity to honour yours:
Donate to our Honour your Mother campaign and lastingly honour your own mother on the studio entrance walls.
In giving to this initiative you are making small miracles possible.
50% of your donation will support the youth dance programs at the Jean Soper Studio and 50% will contribute toward
the capital costs of its renovations, making it possible for a professional dance studio to be available for the community.
The Jean Soper Studio is a place of learning, change and transformation. Thanks to donors like you, our dance classes
are offered under full scholarship to youth who live in Regent Park and subsidized for any other youth who wouldn’t
otherwise be able to attend. The Jean Soper studio is a place where we share with the community: with local
organizations, public schools, and other creative initiatives.
The suggested starting contribution is $100 but there is no small act of philanthropy and all contributions are welcome.
Please give generously. Our goal is to reach $150,000.
