Last week, dancers from our Citadel Dance Program attended a rehearsal of The Nutcracker at Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS). NBS teacher, Laurel Toto, who was rehearsing NBS students for this winter’s National Ballet of Canada production of James Kudelka’s The Nutcracker, welcomed our CDP students and told them the story of The Nutcracker and explained the opening scene where the two young dancers are scared by a mouse in the barn on Christmas Eve. It was inspirational to see NBS students in action (and to see where all of the tendus and plies can lead!)
The CDP is grateful to the continued support of NBS, especially through its donation of dance wear and slippers and we look forward to future visits.
Please note: CDP full scholarships are available to residents of Regent Park and subsidized rates are available for low-income families. More info about the CDP schedule can be found here.
